Worth the bulk buy

I was looking to stock up for winter and found their bulk bag deal for kiln dried ash logs. Buying two bags gave a decent discount automatically, which I appreciated as I always compare prices. Free delivery on the larger order was a big plus too, saving me extra cash. It felt like good value for the quality of wood I received. Practical and budget-friendly purchase.

Logs arrived, good quality

I ordered two bulk bags of kiln dried hardwood logs, and the ordering process on the website was straightforward. Delivery took 6 days to reach me in Norwich, which was within the estimated timeframe. The logs themselves seem well-seasoned and burned efficiently in my wood-burning stove. No issues with moisture content at all. I appreciated the email updates on my order's progress.

Consistent quality logs

This was my third time ordering kiln dried birch logs from Hillside Woodfuels. The quality has been consistently good; they burn clean with minimal smoke, just like my previous orders. Delivery to Bristol was on time, as usual, taking about a week. It's why I keep coming back, they're reliable.

Good charcoal for BBQ

Got some restaurant grade lumpwood charcoal for a big backyard BBQ. It lit up fast and held its heat for ages. Made grilling easy, and the food tasted great. Happy with it, honestly.

Can you actually pick up your order from their place in Swansea? Or is it delivery only?

D Dana B. 2 weeks ago
I think you can actually collect from the Swansea depot, yeah. I remember seeing that on their site somewhere. Might be worth calling them to arrange it though.

Yeah, I think so. Saves on delivery if you're local enough. Just make sure you've got a big enough car!

do they ever do discount codes or like black friday deals? I need a lot of logs for winter and trying to save some cash.

K Kevin R. 1 month ago
They don't do a ton of specific codes in my experience, mostly it's just cheaper to buy the bigger bags. The bulk savings are where it's at.

Keep an eye on their newsletter, sometimes they drop a code there for like 5-10% off. But the real deals are usually the multi-bag offers, especially around autumn.

Thinking of getting a bulk bag of logs for my new fire pit. How long does delivery usually take, I'm in Manchester?

T Troy Marsh 2 weeks ago
Mine came pretty quick to Cardiff, within a week. I think they use a pallet delivery service so it's not like Royal Mail speeds but it was fine.

Yeah, I'm up in Scotland and it was like 5-7 working days. Depends on the haulier for your area once it leaves their depot I reckon.

Hey, I'm looking at getting some oak logs for my pizza oven. are these actually good for that? And are they really kiln dried or just like, air dried then called kiln dried?

P Priya 1 month ago
I got the oak for my Ooni and it's brilliant, burns hot and clean. They say it's Woodsure certified so the moisture content should be super low, like 20% or less. Mine definitely felt properly dry.

Yeah, they're properly kiln dried, not just seasoned. You can tell the difference easily. The restaurant charcoal is top notch too if you're ever doing a BBQ.

Is there a big difference between these guys and say, Lekto Woodfuels? Trying to figure out who to go with for my log burner.

B Ben 1 month ago
I used Lekto before and they were okay, but I found Hillside's logs burned a bit longer for me. Plus, these guys are FSC certified which is a nice bonus if you care about that.

Hmm, I haven't tried Lekto, but I've been happy with Hillside for ages. Good quality, consistent burns. And it's Welsh wood, supporting local production.
